Preschool Swim Lessons (Ages 3-5)

For children who cannot swim by themselves, have never had lessons before or are fearful of the water.

Main Skills Taught: bubble blowing, supported front and back glide, kicking movements and introduction to arm movements, as well as how to climb in and out of a pool.

For ages 3 to 5 years.

Teacher to student ratio 1:4.

Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water in Stage 1. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in swimming.

• Cancellation Policy: All swim lessons are non-refundable once the session has started.
• If the participant is absent from a class, there is no rescheduling or make-up lesson.
• Come ready to swim with swim attire and a towel to dry off.
• Registrations fill up quickly and are on a first-come-first-serve basis. Please plan accordingly for future sessions.
• Enrollment does not roll over each month. You must register your child for each monthly session.
• All lessons are 30 minutes in water instruction.
• Progress reports are given at the 6th lesson. If you want a progress report before that, please speak with your instructor one-on-one.

What to expect on the 1st day:

• Open swim before and after lessons is reserved for Facility Members only
• Facility members who choose to swim prior to class or after must accompany children in water unless they have passed the swim skills test and have a green band
• Arrive with sufficient time to be dressed and ready for class.
• Once you are ready for class, head over to the pool and check in for class. The Lifeguard will let you know where your class is located in the pool and who the instructor will be.
• Class levels and times are posted at the lanes.

• We reserve the right to reassign the swim instructor.

What to expect on the 1st day:

• Arrive with sufficient time to be dressed and ready for class.
• Once you are ready for class head over to the pool which is located at the back of the facility
• If you are early to your class on the first day of their class instructors will call roll. Once instructors have called out roll call they will head over to the area of the pool where they will be teaching the class.
• If you did not hear your child’s name be called please ask a staff for assistance. If your name or your child’s name is not on the roster we ask that you go to the front desk and bring a copy of your receipt.
• After the 1st day of class it is the expectation that the parent/participant will walk over child to the where the class sis being held.

In Stage 2, students focus on body position and control, directional change, and forward movement in the water while also continuing go practice how to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water.

Main Skills Taught: Unsupported front and back floating, front and back gliding, rolling onto the back and stomach, and bobbing with a full introduction to over-arm front crawl, kicking on back and back crawl.

Things to know:

• The ratio for this class is 4:1
• Cancellation Policy: All swim lesson’s are non-refundable once the session has started.
• If participant is absent from a class there  is no rescheduling or make-up lesson.
• Come ready to swim with swim attire and a towel to dry off.

In Stage 3, students learn how to swim to safety from a longer distance than in previous stages in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage also introduces rhythmic breathing and integrated arm and leg action.

Students in Stage 4 develop stroke techniques in front crawl and back crawl and learn the breaststroke kick and butterfly kick. Water safety is reinforced through treading water and elementary backstroke.
