Homeschool Program Electives

Explore a variety of homeschool electives in this dynamic 8-week session, meetings are twice a month for 60 minutes each!

Each class offers a new adventure, from Reactive Science and Engineering projects to unique art experiences and various hands-on learning activities.

These events will vary each month and will provide fun and engaging activities that encourage participation. Our experienced staff build on social emotional skill and implement themed activities in  various areas such as, but not limited to: engineering, cooking, art and games!

Homeschool Socials at the YMCA provide opportunities for children to socialize with other children and make friends in a safe and supervised environment!  Homeschool Socials are a 2 hour drop off, one day event (parents do not attend). 

Meet ups are essential to family connections and relationships within the homeschool community. Some meet ups are free and others are events and trips that we can come together as a community to build bonds and strengthen our connections within our circles. Homeschool Meet Ups are a 2 hour event, where the whole family is invited! 

Parent Advisory Committee: PAC meets once a quarter! This platform is a great way to connect with other parents like you! Help guide the Homeschool Electives and Support Programs to fit the needs of the community, and share academic advice and support with each other. RSVP as lunch AND childcare is provided!

Park Days and Field Trips: Family outings! We are building a community! Group Rates and Socialization for children AND families!

The “Keeping Fit PE” class at YMCA Mission Viejo is tailored to enhance physical fitness, social/emotional awareness, and self-esteem among students. This course utilizes a blend of dynamic warm-ups, engaging activities, group games, and sports to foster a community that encourages lifelong fitness and healthy habits. It is an ideal choice for students looking to remain active and build positive health practices.

Our Mission Viejo Electives offer a flexible, month-to-month selection of engaging classes tailored to a variety of interests. Designed to accommodate different schedules while maintaining the consistency of our programming, these electives provide a dynamic learning environment for all participants.

Priority goes to the 13 Week Registrations, the Month-to-Month Classes will open ON August 10th

Flat Fee: $200 per elective

Interest-Based and Student-Led: Our classes are designed to cater to student interests, ensuring an engaging and personalized learning experience.

Life Skills for Everyday Use: Students will learn practical skills that can be applied to their daily lives, fostering independence and creativity.

Limited Spaces: Enrollment is extremely limited and only opens after our 13-week sessions have reserved their spaces.

No Guarantee of Availability: There is no guarantee that any specific class will have availability once the 13-week sessions are filled.

No Special Discounts: Month-to-month selections do not qualify for special discounts available to 13-week sessions. Participants in the month-to-month registration are not eligible to receive free admission to our session field trip. However, if space is available, tickets may be purchased to attend.

Mission Viejo Homeschool Electives for Teens

Welcome to our Homeschool Electives at Mission Viejo! Designed for students ages 12-16 (grades 5-10), our classes offer a flexible, supportive environment for teens to explore their interests and develop new skills.

We understand that maturity and skill levels vary, so we offer age waivers to ensure every student finds the right fit.

Our 13-week sessions provide a comprehensive and enriching experience, with classes meeting the following days and times:

•  Creative Writing and Publishing (Comic Book or Short Story): Mondays, 2:30-3:45 PM
•  Home Economics (Cooking, Budgeting & More): Tuesdays, 2:30-3:45 PM
•  Creative Hearts (Cricut Crafting and Digital Art): Thursdays, 2:30-3:45 PM
•  Twisted Stitches (Sewing and Crocheting): Fridays, 2:30-3:45 PM
